An Invitation to the 14th ISINIP and Call for Abstract

The ¡°XIV International Symposium on Iron Nutrition and Interactions in Plants¡± (14th ISINIP) will be held in Beijing, China, on October 11-15 2008. It is a joint symposium with the Annual Meeting of HarvestPlus-China. The symposium will consist of keynote lectures, and oral and poster presentations organized in sessions. It will provide opportunities to scientists from soil sciences, plant nutrition, plant breeding, animal and human nutrition around the world to communicate their new results and experiences in studying iron nutrition of plants, animal and human for a better understanding of the mechanisms of iron from soils, over plants to animals and human beings. On behalf of the organization committee, I would like to extend a special invitation to you to submit abstracts and to participate in the symposium.

Registration: Morning of Oct. 11

HPC 2008 : Oct. 14-16

The scientific topics of the symposium are as follows:
Session 1: Iron chemistry in environment (soil, sediments and oceans) and plant microbial interactions in the rhizosphere.
Session 2: Diagnosis and correction of iron deficiency and toxicity.
Session 3: Plant iron uptake and regulation.
Session 4: Iron translocation, distribution and regulation.
Session 5: Plant iron metabolism and proteomics.
Session 6: Interaction of iron with other elements and phytoremediation.
Session 7: Iron biofortication and human health.
Session 8: Annual meeting of HarvestPlus-China.

During the symposium, more than 20 invited scientists will give the overviews of recent progress in the above-named 8 topics. The full length research or review papers will be collected and published in a special issue of ¡°Plant and Soil¡± after peer-review. The abstracts are published in a supplemental issue of ¡°Journal of Genetics and Genomics¡±.

The symposium will be held at the Jiuhua Spa and Resort, a comprehensive deluxe resort located on the grounds of the ancient Qing and Ming dynasties on the outskirts of the lively International City of Beijing. Beijing is a historical city and the capital of China. Olympic Games-2008 will be held here just one month before our symposium. It is one of the most attractive cities in the world for tourist.
