On behalf of the Organizational Committee, it is a great pleasure for us to invite you to attend the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) Asia/Pacific 2010 meeting, which will be held in Guangzhou, China from June 4 to 7, 2010. SETAC is a nonprofit, worldwide professional organization comprised of individuals and institutions engaged in the study, analysis, and solution of environmental problems, the management and regulation of natural resources, research and development and environmental education.

The theme of this year's conference is ¡°Balance between Economic Growth and Environmental Protection: Sustainability through Better Science¡±. Meeting sessions will span a multitude of topics including air pollution, aerosol physics and chemistry, bioaccumulation of organics and metals, bioavailability, environmental analytical techniques, environmental chemistry & environmental biogeochemistry, environmental fate and processes, E-waste in Asia, fate of pharmaceuticals and personal care products, marine and coastal pollution, passive sampling techniques, pollution impacts and climate change, rare earth environmental chemistry, sorption and desorption processes, water quality issues, aquatic toxicology, environmental effects of manufactured nanoparticles, eutrophication and hypoxia, human exposure and risk assessment, remediation of contaminant sites, statistics in ecotoxicology, terrestrial and wildlife toxicology, challenges associated with intensive aquaculture, ecological risk assessment and management, endocrine disrupting chemicals: monitoring and effect detection, environmental Omics, environmental remediation, multiple stressors in ecosystem, sediment/soil toxicology, similarities and differences among the environmental laws and regulations of the U.S., EU and China, and water and sediment quality criteria etc.

The conference will provide a forum for participants from around the world to present the latest developments in scientific principles and practices for environmental protection, as well as to discuss and exchange latest information leading to sustainable environmental quality and ecosystem integrity under the stress of economic development.
